3 & 4-year-old Kindergarten Programs
At Mini Miners Early Learning Centre, we are proud to offer both 3-year-old & 4-year-old kindergarten programs to the families of Miners Rest and wider communities. The kindergarten programs are delivered by bachelor qualified teachers, with experience in both early childhood education and primary school education. With this wealth of knowledge, of child development and education, we provide a high-quality educational and care program, building children’s school readiness abilities.
The kindergarten programs run separately from the childcare, in the Waratah Room. The 3-year-old Kindergarten Program will operate on a Monday & Wednesday, 8.30am – 4.00pm. The 4-year-old Kindergarten Program will be operating on a Tuesday & Thursday, 8.30am – 4.00pm. We offer before and after care, if necessary, outside of the kindergarten hours.
Guided by the Reggio Emilia approach, we take great pride in creating a learning environment that allows children to express themselves in various ways. By engaging in rich and meaningful experiences, children develop a passion for learning, building a strong foundation for future learning and success. Our indoor and outdoor learning spaces are thoughtfully planned and reflects the interests and desires of each individual child. Many learning activities and experiences are on offer to build children’s developing skills, preparing them for primary school, in the years to come.
At Mini Miners we offer the children a unique learning experience, The Paddock Block. Paddock Block is a session held exclusively outside, where children use the natural environment to source their own learning. The Paddock Block is a private block of land, generous in size and filled with natural elements. It is located on a private road, behind the service and easily accessible by staff and children. As children explore the natural environment at the Paddock Block, they relish the freedom of the outdoors. Every child’s curiosity is supported and their love for learning is extended through play and exploration. While at the Paddock Block, children engage in activities that strengthen their understanding of animals, gardening and nature, making sense of the world around them.
How does ‘funded Kindergarten’ work in a long daycare setting?
Free kinder is for all children. Free kinder will offset out of pocket fees for children attending a Kindergarten program in our long daycare service. Free Kinder is a fee offset of up to $2,000. Children can access a 15 hour kindergarten program for free. Families may still be required to pay additional fees depending on the number of days their child attends our service. Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is available to assist in paying out of pocket fees for “wrap around care” provided by our service. For further information please ask a member of our team for a copy of our ‘Free Kindergarten Program Enrolment Policy’ and ‘Kindergarten payment of fees policy’
Paddock Kinder
Paddock Kinder is a program whereby children learn through nature play. The Victorian Government has stated that “the development of paddock/bush kinders reflects the mounting body of evidence that outdoor activities such as; exploring natural environments, are beneficial to children and contribute to improving children’s health and wellbeing.”
The paddock block as you may have read above is a private block of land generous in size and filled with natural elements. It is located on a private road, behind the Mini Miners service and easily accessible by staff and children. The paddock block has been well researched and the advantages of outdoor learning make the paddock kinder a beneficial extension to our curriculum.
