Our Commitment to Child Safety

At Mini Miners Early Learning Centre, the safety, wellbeing, and protection of every child is at the core of everything we do.
In light of recent events highlighted in the media, we understand that families may feel a heightened sense of concern
around child safety. We want to assure you that we take these matters with the utmost seriousness and remain firmly
committed to creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and respectful environment for all children in our care.

We continue to uphold and reflect on the Child Safe Standards daily, embedding these into our culture, practices, and
educational programs. Our current procedures to safeguard children include:

  • Maintaining staff-to-child ratios above the regulatory requirements to ensure optimal supervision and support.

  • Mandatory training and child protection updates are consistently completed by all educators to strengthen their ability to identify, report, and respond to any potential risk.

  • Rigorous recruitment checks including Working With Children Checks, reference checks, and ongoing performance monitoring.

  • No personal devices are permitted in learning spaces to uphold privacy and reduce risk.

  • Continuous reflection and alignment with the 11 Child Safe Standards, ensuring they are a living and active part of our service.

As we strengthen our commitment, we are also introducing a new policy, which will require a minimum of two educators to be present/in line of sight during all nappy changes/toileting and close child interactions, providing an added layer of transparency and protection.

We value and appreciate any concerns or questions our families may have. Open communication is vital, and we invite you to speak with our Centre Director, Jemma Proelss, at any time.

Providing a child safe, nurturing environment for you, your child/ren, and families is at the heart of our philosophy and strong within our values. We endeavour to continue providing the highest quality of care and education in line with the Child Safe Standards and our policies and procedures.
